Built in 1956, this architectural home in Palm Desert, CA suffered from an uninspired 80’s renovation.
Vaulted ceilings with sand-blasted exposed beams and expansive floor-to-ceiling windows with mountain views were signature features as well as the original cinderblock fireplace, discovered hiding behind layers of drywall.
After stripping the home to its bones, organic materials were chosen—black slate for the living/dining areas, eco-friendly bamboo for the kitchen and natural sea grass for the bedrooms—all complimented by a color palette of rich desert tones. Stainless steel appliances and a Brazilian river rock granite bar completed the kitchen.
